Counseling Services

Our clinicians typically use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat psychological problems. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on changing how you think so you will feel better. Also, our therapists provide "tools" for you to use to help you cope better with your problems. Also, your therapist works collaboratively with you so that you can reach your goals for treatment. Counseling is not like a medical doctor visit. Instead, it calls for a very active effort on your part. In order for therapy to be most successful, you will have to work on things we talk about both during our sessions and at home.

Sessions

Your clinician will evaluate your needs during the first session. This session typically lasts approximately 45 minutes. By the end of the evaluation, your clinician will be able to offer you their first impressions of your diagnosis, your treatment options (e.g., therapy and/or medications), and a treatment plan. In addition, you can both decide if your clinician is the best person to provide the services you need in order to meet your treatment goals. If you decide to pursue psychotherapy with us, we will typically schedule one 45 to 50 minute session per week on a weekly basis until you start feeling better. Then your clinician will taper/space the sessions apart after you see improvement in your symptoms. If a medication is needed for your condition, your clinician will either make a recommendation to your medical doctor or refer you to a psychiatrist. We accept most health insurance plans and self-pay rates are available for those without health insurance coverage.
