Memory Evaluations Can Answer The Following Questions:

Neuropsychological Testing

Neuropsychological tests are used during memory evaluations.  Neuropsychological testing is a comprehensive assessment of a person's thinking using various tests. A neuropsychological evaluation consists of an interview for the first session and then a psychologist will administer many different kinds of tests at your next session. The psychologist will use tests that will assess your ability to pay attention, learn and remember information, reason, perceive information, problem solve, use language, and to organize and plan information. The psychologist will score your tests and then compare your results to individuals who are similar to you.

When is Neuropsychological Evaluation Needed?

A neuropsychological evaluation is recommended for any individual who is experiencing changes in their thinking (e.g., concentration, memory, reasoning ability, language) and/or personality. Neuropsychological testing will determine your strengths and weaknesses in your thinking. In addition, neuropsychological testing can determine if your memory problems are significant enough to be a neurological disorder such as dementia (e.g., Alzheimer's Disease).
Testing can also determine whether or not you need a medication to help keep your memory stable (e.g., Aricept and Exelon). In addition, a neuropsychological evaluation can provide you with information about how your thinking is before there is any problem, which would allow us to measure any changes in your thinking functioning at a later date. Finally, a neuropsychological evaluation can assist you in planning for your future needs. We offer memory enhancement training (cognitive rehabilitation) for those who have thinking problems.
 

Adult ADD Evaluations

ADD/ADHD Evaluations Can Answer The Following Questions:

• Do I have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)?
• Do I have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)?

Testing can also determine whether or not you need a medication and/or behavioral interventions to treat ADD or ADHD.
